Ghana: I Will Win the Election, Mahama Says

Kumasi — President John Dramani Mahama is optimistic he will win the December polls, following massive development projects spread all over the country by the NDC government.

The President, who began his three-day tour to Ashanti Region to sell the National Democratic Better Ghana agenda to the people said he is well convinced that Ghanaians would maintain the NDC on December 7, because Ghanaians have really seen the difference between the NDC and the previous administration.

President Mahama, who entered the region from the Eastern Region on Sunday November 25, began his campaign tour at Juaso at about 3 pm and later ended the day at Ntonso, having visited Agogo, Adobinso, Kumawu, Nsuta, Mampong-Asante, Ejura, Agona and Ntonso.

The second day of his tour took him to areas like New Edubiase, Adansi Asokwa, Akrofrom, Obuasi and Bekwai, where he appealed to the electorate to retain the NDC government in office, as the foundation that Prof. Mills-led government had laid needed to be completed.

At Adobinso, the district capital of the newly created Sekyere Afram Plains, the President assured the people that the road from Kumawu currently under construction would be completed. He told the people that the government of the NDC in its second term would extend electricity to the area and also ensure that farming activities are improved.

He advised the farmers in the Sekyere Afram Plains to form farming cooperatives in order to help them acquire tractors from the government on soft credit basis.

He disclosed that the government is importing tractors from Brazil to be sold to farmers on credit basis and for that matter farmers in the area should take that opportunity to acquire the tractors.

He also promised the electorate from the area that they would benefit from the NDC next government package of 200 schools which would be built throughout the country.

President Mahama noted that apart from education and road network which is nothing to write home about, the people of Sekyere Afram Plains would also need proper health care, which the NDC government would provide when maintained.

At New Edubiase, in the New Edubiase Constituency, President Mahama assured the a sport stadium would be constructed for the town if they re-affirm their love for the NDC by voting for them President Mahama.

The assurance came after the queen mother, Nana Akua Dum II had made a request. The Queen mother also asked the President to reconstruct the New Edubiase town roads which are in very deplorable state. According to her the NDC need to construct the town road as a reward to the town which had been voting for the party since 1992.

The President accepted the queen’s mother request saying “Nana let me assure you that the road would be done.

Addressing the people at a rally organized for the President, Mr. Mahama expressed his joy as he was traveling on the Bekwai-Assin Fosu Road which passes through New Edubiase.

The said road, which was in a state of disrepair, was reconstructed into a first class road by the NDC government.

According to the President, the construction of the road is one of the quality things that the NDC government had brought to the people.

The President told the people that they had benefited immensely from the NDC Better Ghana Agenda as four new dormitories were built for the New Edubiase Senior High School at GH¢2.8 billion.

He said the amount could have been used to pay fees for students, but they would have no place to lay their heads and learn, if that was done.

The President later inspected work on the Bekwai district hospital, which was commenced under the current administration.
