Congress ridicules Mamata Banerjee

Congress ridiculed Trinamoo Congress for ‘daring’ to move a no-confidence motion against Manmohan Singh government in Lok Sabha today without having the requisite number and said TMC chief Mamata Banerjee had been ”cornered in national politics”.

”It is a daring act and now she has been cornered in national politics,” former PCC president and one-time minister in Mamata Banerjee cabinet, Manas Bhuinya said.

Bhuinya criticised Banerjee for seeking help of ‘communal’ BJP and ‘authoritarian’ CPI(M) for her no-confidence move against the Centre.

”She is exposed and has been cornered in national politics. She got the support of only BJD for her daring move,” he added.

WBPCC leaders, including Bhuinya, Abdul Mannan took out a procession from the PCC headquarter to Esplanade denouncing Banerjee’s move to ‘humiliate’ the UPA government at the centre.

Meanwhile, estranged TMC MP Kabir Suman said he disagreed with the party line on the no-trust motion and dubbed it as a ‘big bungle’ on the part of the party chief.

He said he was not taken into confidence by the party. “Mamata Banerjee has not shown her political maturity by deciding to move a no-trust motion.”

Suman said no party now wanted ‘untimely (lok sabha) votes’ and another election at this stage would impose a heavy burden on the country.
