BEIRUT: A 10-year-old boy who was kidnapped over the weekend was released Monday after efforts by police in east Lebanon.
The National News Agency reported that Hussein Samaha was released by his captors around 1:30 p.m. in Baalbek, east Lebanon.
It added that Samaha’s release took place without ransom due to strict security measures taken by police around the city such as setting up checkpoints.
Samaha’s relatives initially believed that the boy, who went missing Saturday night, was kidnapped because his shoes were spotted on the streets.
He was on his way to his grandfather’s house in Shamstar in Baalbek.
