Lebanese singer Goodwill Ambassador for U.N. program

BEIRUT: Lebanese singer Assi El Hellani has been appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for Live Lebanon, an organization that aims to promote the environment, health and prosperity in Lebanon.

Hellani’s new role, announced at the Movenpick Hotel in Raouche, will be to work as an advocate for Live Lebanon, raising awareness of its local and global activities.

Live Lebanon, part of the United Nations Development Program, aims to reach out to the country’s diaspora to help communities in need. It is divided into four areas of development: Young Lebanon, Green Lebanon, Prosperous Lebanon, and Healthy Lebanon, all of which collaborate closely with local municipalities and NGOs.

According to the organization’s website, “All of Live Lebanon UNDP’s time is dedicated to these underprivileged, overlooked communities in Lebanon. Live Lebanon reaches out to the immense Lebanese diaspora worldwide and gives them the opportunity to support the people in their homeland that are in need with important community based initiatives.”

It emphasizes that their work would not be possible without their Goodwill Ambassadors, who “establish the connection between Live Lebanon and individuals, private sectors, and companies that want to contribute to the cause.”
