The suspension has hit rail traffic between London and continental Europe
Eurostar has suspended all train services in the Channel Tunnel because of a fire on a Eurotunnel train.
Firefighters are reported to be at the scene of the blaze outside the tunnel at Folkestone.
“As a result of the current Eurotunnel shuttle incident, necessary safety checks could mean that the tunnel could be closed for up to two hours,” Eurostar said on Twitter.
There are no reports of casualties. Details of the incident remain sketchy.
The suspension affects Eurostar passenger train services and freight traffic between London and Paris and Brussels.
A Eurostar spokesman said “none of our trains are stuck in the tunnel but we are unable to go through the tunnel at the moment”.
