LONDON: Tony Hall, the chief executive of Britain’s Royal Opera House, was named Thursday as head of the BBC after the previous director-general quit over the corporation’s reporting of child sex abuse.
“We can confirm that Tony Hall has been appointed as the new director-general of the BBC,” a spokeswoman for the corporation’s governing body, the BBC Trust, told AFP.
